As my car RR has been dealer service from new i was keen to keep this going. I got a quote a few weeks ago to do an oil change and pollen filter at a cost of over £600. I decided to buy my own oil and filters. I went to my local Hunters and told them I would be supplying my own genuine LR parts and oil, all I required was an oil change a I did the pollen filter myself. They couldn't give me a price until after it had been done. I picked the car up yesterday, cost of the oil change was £199, expensive I thought considering it probably only took an hour, but I paid it. I then asked the service guy if they had stamped my book, he said no as we didn't carry out the service. After much discussion he reluctantly stamped my book. I then went to start the car and the service warning was displayed. I then went back to the service guy and asked him to clear the service warning. Same conversation, as we didn't carry out a service. I was getting pretty irate at this stage and explained that they did carry out the service only I supplied my own genuine parts and oil. Again, reluctantly, they cleared the service warning. I have my own gap IID tool and I could have cleared it myself, but it was the principle now. Seems they weren't happy that I supplied my own oil and filter. Anybody else had similar experiences? Dave

Which scheduled service is only an oil, filter and pollen filter change and absolutely nothing else? |

Just for info, I had my 2011 serviced this week and they called it a 6 year service but signed the book as Inspection 1.

I guess the reverse would make the point more clearly - I changed the oil and filter myself, but could you do the pollen filter etc and them stamp the service book ? |

I have decided to do as much servicing as I can now my warranty has expired so I am going to enter anything I do in the service book myself and allocate a double page per year, then sign and date it.
