Hi folks,

I am looking to change the oils for Diff and Auto Transmission and have few questions:

a) What oil is recommended for Front/Rear Diffs (and Transfer box if there is one) Please can someone help with the capacity of each?

b) What oil is recommended for Auto Transmission? I have checked the WIKI but they seem to refer to TDV6. Is it easy to change? Do I have to replace the filter too? or can I do a drain and refill. Or shall I get it done professionally.

ok so looked at the owners manual which tells you the capacities. Did a further digging and now understand it's 75w 90. I will be using a fully synthetic oil so that's fine.

The transfer box is a specific LR oil.

You can only get it from LR. It's different from the diffs There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

yeah I read on one of the other threads showing an LR bottle reading Special Transfer Oil but the owner manual says it's Shell TF 0753 which upon further investigation is 75w 90.

Has anyone else changed the oils recently?

Can someone also help with my diff lock and Dpf questions? (Didn't want to start a new thread) Current:

I'm waiting for the rain to stop to get on with this and servicing, I bought the diff fluid "Castrol" from Opie oils and the transfer fluid from Dan, genuine L/R stuff Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

the L/R trans oil is £22 per litre from Dan
the diff oil was £24 (that was for 2 bottles) so £12 per litre with your (FULLCHAT) discount code..

nothing to do with diffs, but just looking at your handbook picture, I thought so, the fuel tank on the 4.4TDV8 is smaller than the 3.6 or TD6 for that matter.

Any reason that anyone knows of? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

more efficient so needs less fuel but still gets the same range, hadn't noticed myself however it did seem a bit cheaper to fill up..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

You will have a locking centre diff but as to an active rear diff there will be wires and a plug on the top.

My advice is to send an email to JLR customer services with your chassis number and ask for a copy of the build sheet for your car.
