Jacking with Deployable Steps | |
Well today I got to use my modified Jack (from a Mere Sprinter) with the deployable steps, I also used the guide for getting the wheel back on after I had cleaned and waxed it. I also took the bin out of the back right hand side in order to get more space - there is a lot of space wasted under it. One thing to watch is that the Jack handle can foul the steps initially but I found that using the shortest bit of the handle (3 sections) gets it up far enough so you can then use normally - you would have to be very strong to get the car off the ground using only a part of the handle.
This picture shows everything - well except the bin.
Its not all good news, I discovered a slow puncture and even though it was central in the tread the local guy said it was unrepairable due to the silencing foam stuck to the inside (ContiSilent) a new tyre is fairly expensive so I have contacted Continental and also a few who might be able to advise me - if anyone has had one of these tyres successfully repaired please let me know.
