Pete, did I send you the link to the US magnet supplier? I can't find it in my email but would be happy to post here if I can remember your email address to search for! |

Thanks very much for the link dingg - have you tried that method? Mine is 2007, it seems odd if the column lock has changed from earlier models it still suffers from the exact same problem. I have never experienced it or heard of it on any other car. |

This method of disconnecting the module does work and is easy. I tried with 2 needles and shorted the 2 pins together and I could start the car fine. Im not sure what to do next - can I leave these 2 wires shorted permanently, will that drain the battery or do I need a switch. Im certainly not driving around with 2 sewing needles stuck a few inches above my knee |

I would wire in a rocker switch permanently to those pin positions and locate the switch under the column shroud so its invisible to everyone - glad to hear it works could save a lot of faffing about and expense |

@Haylands, the solenoids had arrived, many thanks. Normal I would buy them also in US, but they want 20$ shipping.....

By reading better thread i saw that pinning of 1 and 7 of c2055 can have an effect only to non bmw models. |

AFAIK it's all plug and play, no ECU's in it, just motors, solenoids and a few other unreliable items...... |
