-08 TDV8 occational slow to build oil pressure

I bought my -08 L322 TDV8 one month ago with fresh oil in both engine and gearbox. Usually the oil pressure builds up within about two seconds but the last two days when starting in the morning, it takes about 10 seconds before the oil light goes out. One time the warning text appeared and I shut down after 3-4 seconds and started again and the oil light went out after a few seconds. The other time the oil light went out before the warning text but I guess it was only a split second before... Warm start is ok, oil light for max 2-3 seconds.

The car have 180k km on the counter and oil looks fine and the level is exactly at the max mark.

Known problem? Sticky oil pressure switch? Other good ideas? "Plentraktoren/Garden tractor": 2008 L322 TDV8

without being a doom monger, its going to go bang shortly, mine had the same symptoms and did.

I changed the oil presure switch, ten the oil pump but it made no difference, apperentlty there is a valve under the oil filter assembly buried deep in th engine that can stick and causes the issue or it could be a spun crank bearing.

Either way it needs looking at quickly to save the engine

Good luck with the repair i really hope I am wrong

Try a new OEM or genuine oil filter first. Cheap, and easy place to start Thumbs Up

Especially if it has been recently serviced...

Take the filter out, put the cover on and starting up and see what oil pressure you have. Could be an incorrect fitted oil filter. There is a spigot that fits into a hole and it must be in line.

Thanks for tips.

So far, it have only happened twice and I plan to change oil and filter within a few weeks. I would also check oil pressure using a mechanical gauge. "Plentraktoren/Garden tractor": 2008 L322 TDV8

I'm starting to think cheezels might be right about these engines needing a flush so theirs no sludge in the oil galleries and blocking the turbo oil feed.

My oils pretty black straight after a service.

However, I'd also go with a filter change. ______________________________

It happens just every now and then. I assume the oil filter drains and takes time to refill... Noe big deal anymore. "Plentraktoren/Garden tractor": 2008 L322 TDV8
