LEAKING SUMP PLUG

Just completed service and oil change on my 2005 TD6. There appears to be a very slow leak from the sump plug and on looking at it seems to be a crack running from the plug hole for about one inch.

Spoke to a few people about fixes, generally doom and gloom as can't weld insitu.

Any thoughts?

Can the sump be removed with the engine in the vehicle?

You could always file it back slightly and fill with liquid metal perhaps? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks Martin. Something I've considered but would be good to know if anyone has done it successfully.

I've only seen it work on a gearbox casing.

You can remove the sump in-situ, but the front diff has to come out first according to RAVE:

Thanks Joe90. Doesn't look too challenging a job although perhaps not for the faint-hearted....

I have a 4 post ramp so access is good, decision is whether to attempt myself or give to the pro's

Would you happen to have the process for removing the front differential?

Thanks Joe90. Downloaded OK but struggling to open the files. Most seem to be labelled P38 or Defender?
