United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Zermatt Silver
New Flip Key

Hi Guys

I have been searching but can't find a definitive answer. I have a 2007 my TDV8 with the normal
Straight key and I would like to have the newer flip key.

I have seen the post where you take all the guts out of the old key and cut them down and fit them in a
New flip case but was wondering if I can just do the following?

Buy a flip key from the bay of e (433hz) not blank but with the electronics
Have the blade cut locally
Program it with my gap iidtool

It opens and starts the car?

Thanks in advance for your answers

Steve.

Hi mate,

I had a 07MY and did exactly that. I had the straight BMW style key and I purchased a new shape flip key off ebay.

I got it cut and programmed it myself and it works perfectly. You can't re-use the internals of your old key as the circuit is different, but most keys will come with a new one. You will have to swap the transponder over though, if you don't you risk immobilising the car.

I dont believe this works on any RR up to 07MY (updated interior), so yours should be fine!

Just be sure to buy one that has the right key blade on it as the Sport from this era had the same key but with a much thinner blade which wont work in yours. It has to have the fatter blade Thumbs Up Jordan

Thanks Jord,

I will give it a go. Does anyone know what the key programming
Function on the gap iidtool does? Will it negate the need for swapping
The transponder?

Thanks
Steve.

This is the re-programming instructions for the key mate Thumbs Up

Not sure what the IID tool reprogramming function does as never used it, always used the above method. I suspect the IID tool puts the car in learning mode same as above.
I doubt it codes a transponder as you normally need expensive key coding equipment to do this. The transponder is easy to identify and swap over though! You'll even find on the new style flip key there is a little designed space for it to sit in snug. Easy job! Jordan
