Adaptive Dynamics - What exactly is it?

I have seen the phrase "Adaptive Dynamics" used throughout FFRR literature but have never been able to find a clear description of exactly what it is. I wondered if it is linked to the selection of Sport Mode, maybe stiffening up the suspension or using the EAS to reduce body roll?

Does anyone know what Adaptive Dynamics actually does? 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11

from landrover,

ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS

Adaptive dynamics continuously monitors the current road conditions and driving style, and automatically adjusts the vehicle's suspension settings accordingly. Adaptive dynamics also detects rough road and off-road conditions, and adjusts the suspension settings for greater ride comfort.

If an adaptive dynamics system fault is detected, the instrument panel displays a message and may also illuminate the general or critical warning lamps. See CRITICAL WARNING MESSAGE (RED) and GENERAL WARNING AND INFORMATION MESSAGE (AMBER).

In the event of a detected adaptive dynamics system fault, some reduction in ride comfort may be experienced. The fault may be temporary, but if the fault persists, consult a retailer/authorised repairer.

AD's is full time AFAIK and irrelevnt to mode or gearbox range. You will know if it stops working!!. It will feel like a very rough ride (bit like an X5 sport) ie on house bricks not air bags.

Adaptive Dynamics faults often occur as a result of the small cables off the tops of each suspension strut splitting. Easy fix thou.

Hope that helps. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Thanks chaps. Bit like an invisible friend then. I imagined the suspension reducing body roll when I selected Sport mode but I guess it is just that, my imagination.

Do we know what suspension settings it actually changes? I assume it's just shocks.... or does it do air bag pressure? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Just the shocks Mark,

Increasing the airbag pressure would raise the car..... Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It uses suspension articulation frequency and travel as detected by height sensors and fore, aft and sideways movement using data from accelerometers and data from other sources such as ABS to apply logic to allow shock fluid to bypass the fixed valving to varying degrees to soften shock bump and rebound for a more comfortable ride without compromising handling.

I sort of figured increasing air bag pressure might stop it rolling on corners...but there is no way it could act fast enough. I really miss the ACE on my Disco 2....

I went through a sequence of sharpish bends twice today, once in Drive and again in Sport. I'm convinced the car rolled less in Sport so either I have a very convincing imagination or the shock damping is increased when Sport is selected. What say the experts? 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11

No, but the vehicle having CVDs was my reason for moving from a D4.

so, if I understand this correctly, Adaptive Dynamics is always on, and Dynamic Mode just makes it sharper when you want to drive it like you stole it?
