Ok just looked that up and yes the central some of London will be affected by the ULEZ.

Euro 6 or over diesel cars will be exempt, and Euro5 cars will have to pay a surcharge. So all us 4.4 drivers will be in that category. Or tbh just don't drive there. It's pretty much the same area as the congestion charge so just skirt round the edge. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

So what does it actually mean - i get that it's a sticker that says what Euro class the vehicle is - but what next ?

Will there be zones / signs where certain class vehicles cannot go ?

something along those lines, when pollution is particularly bad then certain more polluting vehicles will not be allowed into certain cities. Im not too sure how they communicate who and when but there is info on the net about it, as far as I can tell only restrictions so far have applied to band 4 and over +unregistered cars.

The sticker shows the cleanliness of the car, so my 4.4l tdv8 is banded as a 2, which isn't too bad really, and the same as Euro6 vehicles, which makes no sense. Anyhow, there are 2 cleaner bands, band 1 is clean petrols and hybrids and the E ro green band is for EV. then 3 further dirtier bands 3, 4 and 5.

I think for more modern UK vehicles its not really an issue, it seems to be 4 and above which have been affected at the moment, if you look at grenoble. Paris seems to have had less restriction.

Older TD6 cars may be affected by this as they may be euro3 (2000 - >) which would give them a level 4 vignette and 2005 - 2009 cars would be Euro4 which would give them a level 3 vignette, and seem unaffected so far but would keep an eye on the information.

Alistair, i wouldn't think it will affect where you have to go in your car at the moment but not worth getting fined for the sake of a £4 sticker. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks - I have no plans for Lyon, Grenoble or Paris in the immediate future, but do spend a lot of time in France, so have ordered one anyway as you never know how quickly it will spread. My summer is spent in and around Bordeaux and that's where I am right now Cool

When I was in Grenoble in January, there were a number of variable speed limit reductions with the signs explaining that it was due to air pollution, but nothing about bands. I don't recall seeing anything in Lyon but there may well have been.

The Central London "T-Charge" Toxicity Charge starts in October this year.

You're OK in any Euro 4.
4.4TDV8 2010 onwards are Euro 5
What is the 3.6TDV8 ?

T-Charge: October 2017
vs ULEZ: 2020
TFL says: The ULEZ will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week within the same area as the current Congestion Charging Zone (CCZ), and comes into force in September 2020

EDIT: ULEZ date just been brought forward: "The Mayor confirmed plans to introduce the Ulez in central London from April 2019 – six months earlier than expected" Cheers, Greg

3.6 should be a Euro4 car. Thumbs Up but the latter ones in the post 09/10 cars may well be Euro5

Nope checked on parkers all 3.6 are 4. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I live inside the central London zone which is why I double checked earlier.. Also saw that I'll have until 2023 with my 4.4TDV8. Was one of my big reasons for going for the 4.4 over the 3.6 Anyway, that's six years away, so may well have upgraded to something newer by then.

TFL:Registered residents who live in the ULEZ will be granted a three year sunset period with a 100% discount to give them more time to change their vehicle to meet the ULEZ standards

obvs need a full capability 4x4 in central London.
Things can get pretty lairy in Marylebone High Street... Smile Smile Cheers, Greg

Euro5 forced the 4.4TDV8 into existence. Interesting a few new cars just fell off the market when the minimum std became Euro5. Mazda RX8 some bikes too just got withdrawn.. Apparently it covers all kinds of things including fuel tank breathers. These alone can pollute a lot in warm weather. Cheers, Greg

3.6 TDV8 is band 3 for the French vignette.
Would have thought the 3.6 with DPF might have been a 2 and Euro 5 though.
