Bilberry and a piece of Bilt Hamber clay bar has brought one of the back wheels up like new.

Took ages but no refurb required, as long as the front ones clean up as well using this method.

That video attached to this link was worth viewing as it shows the method of clay barring the wheel using the Bilberry as a lubricant.

And a spot test clean on one of the front wheels proves the clay bar using Bilberry as a lubricant is a winner

Cold black tea is also an good cleaner and costs nicks, boil up some tea bags and put the tea into a spray bottle, spray and then use a brush.

Wouldn't have though tea was any use, should see what it's done to my mugs!

But... On our Style 9 horrendous nooks and crannies wheels, the tar and crud was baked on the front wheels so badly, had to resort to Mr Muscle and the clay bar working in tandem... One front wheel took 2.5 hours to remove all traces... Has come up like new

Moral of the story being, keep on top of your car, if you are bothered about it looking well kept and shiny

Right, all 4 wheels now done after picking them off, a day at a time and many hours grafting to lift 4 months worth of baked on tar and crud deposits accrued during winter.

Bilberry alone wouldn't shift it.

Bilberry and a clay bar together shifted most of it.

But far and away the most effective was Mr Muscle left on for 25 minutes then worked in with a Bilthamber clay bar to lift the lot. Then rinsed them with water and cleaned them with Bilberry.

They are completely clean and deposit free now, inside and out. But what a PITA of a job so will now keep on top of them with snow foam and power wash ever few days and Bilberry once a week.

Did you put wax or protector on them ?

I bought some Poorboys stuff that was fairly cheap but seems effective

Tried everything to get road tar and grime off of wheels. All the wheels cleaners, clay bar, vinegar, scrub pad. Today I squirted on some Oven cleaner and there like brand new! Why didn't I ret this years ago. Spotless!

Its a white cream like Jif/Cif, not a highly corrosive aerosol. It can't be that bad for your alloys as you can get it on your hands without harm, and no choking fumes.
(its not the horrible spray oven cleaner in an orange aerosol, totally different stuff)

I also use it weekly for cleaning the glass on my woodburning stove which is allegedly now more polluting than a 4x4. I have found absolutely nothing better or easier.

It genuinely really works exceptionally well, and works fast with no scrubbing, cheap and easy to get.

Try it, and you won't be disappointed, I don't know why its more widely known.
