Have changed all my interior bulbs to LED but can anyone give me any tips on how to take out the upper f/well lights ? The round ones that face the seats ! I have piano black trim and although the owners manual claims to use a small screwdriver initial thoughts are it will surely mark the surrounding trim.

Recently did mine and a plastic tool was enough to prize the little out! No damage and a quick swap!

I'll have to buy a set from the Bay, cheers.

If you prise the black side panel off, you can push the light and surround out.
I have disconnected the light bulb holder this way as well, without surround removal.

I bought a set of trim removal tools - there were about 11 in total for less than a tenner - in preparation for the deployable side step installation, I've got to say they are definitely a good buy for any job that requires trim removal. Did the whole job without even damaging a single clip!

Very easy to do , i used a small flat head screwdriver and as previous poster said, its held in buy two clips at positions 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. 2015 4.4 AB

Mixed opinions on this one.

I took the side panel off and accessed it that way, just in case I didn't want to scratch the wooden effect! 

Does the side panel come off easy enough?

Yeah not hard, trim tool, or flat screwdriver in and it just pops off! 

it has three clips holding it in, roughly at the pointy bits! I always found the middle popped the easiest, if your worried about the wood / black trim cover the edge with some masking tape... but I never marked mine the 5 / 6 times it was removed  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Success ! Popped off side trims and replaced bulbs without taking the 'rounds' out .... Very tight on passenger side though because of cup holder mechanism.

Did it on mine and I those spot lights were really firmly in place so had to remove the end trim to get to them.

I guess they vary from car to car but be careful as if they are rigidly in place you might damage the wood finish trying to get them out. Tom

As Said bwfore Remove the side trim then get your hand in and unclip the clips that hold it in, if you try from the out side you risk damaging the wood or risk breaking the clips .
