2007 SC-Starter runs on

Cant find a similar post

My unit, on occasion will swing and start(splutter and inhibited) but the starter wont disengage. so i obviously switch off.

My gut says it is the ignition not disengaging start signal opposed to the starter.
I cleaned out the ignition barrel and had success for 5 starts or so, now reoccurring!

any sage advice-remedy?

Thank you

Probably the starter itself rather than the ignition. Have a look at that next.

UPDATE:
Had prompt friendly direct advice from a forum friend via Whatsapp from China!!!!
I had multiple fault codes: P0172/0441/0167/0405/2118/
a gremlin must have crept in, i had forgotten to mention that the car had stood for 5 weeks.
cleared faults, non reoccurring after multiple repetitive starts
idles much better already
Battery will get a charge as well

Update: still no joy

Car will crank and run, what seems on 1 bank of cylinders, the other half is just a misfire.
HOWEVER, my OBD tells me:
No error code DTC
correct fuel line pressure 320kpa (fluctuates slightly but always above 300)
no misfire codes on any cylinder

If i switch off ignition 3-4 times in succession, it will start and run normally.

No performance problems once driving
I live streamed data while driving: all data seems within spec

so purely a start issue after standing overnight, multiple continious use over the weekend all ok!

at wits end
[/list]

Maybe not much help, but my 2006SC starter does sometimes stay on a little while after I let go of the key. This happens when the engine take longer than normal to start. The starter always stops as the engine starts. I have changed the starter due to the "click no start" syndrome and the car behaves the same way with both starters, leaving me to believe it was not a problem with the starter.

I think it may be that the starter gear stay meshed with the starter ring until the engine starts and pushes the starter gear back. If I understand you correct this happens when the engine does not start properly, in that case I think the problem will go away/be minimised when you get the engine to start properly.

You make a valid point, a poor start creates a none disengaging starter.

Last night i filled up with fuel, added a bottle of WYNN fuel cleaner and drove 40 odd km's

This morning it started perfectly!
