Has anyone used one of these TrackR bravo devices?
Any info regarding using it as a cheap tracker appreciated.
What range they work over, battery life etc etc.

I have one in my wallet and on my bike. They work on Bluetooth and so only have a range of c. 100m from any iPhone carrying the app. If your article is passed by within 100m of someone Carrying the app on their phone, then it will locate and send a signal if you have initiated the lost procedure.

So until everyone has the app it is unlikely to locate your item but it can find things around the house!

TrackR is intended to be used to prevent and locate misplaced or stolen items and it should not be used on people.

TrackRs are enabled by Bluetooth low energy, with a range of connectivity of up to 100ft. TrackR requires a tablet or phone to be running the TrackR app in the background, and Bluetooth must be enabled.

TrackR currently only works with:
Devices with iOS 8 and up
Android 4.4 and Later with Bluetooth Low Energy.

When an item goes missing with a TrackR device attached, all TrackR enabled phones will begin to search for that item. When another TrackR app user passes nearby the lost item, that user's phone will anonymously ping the TrackR server to update the item's owner with new GPS coordinates of when and where it was last seen.

Bung in a 2G sim card (be careful which one as some sim's don't work on 2G/GPRS - I used GiffGaff) and it works a treat.

Has lots of functions and probably as good as others you could pay a couple of hundred quid for.

Be careful where you connect the live feed though. I piggy backed off what I thought was a redundant fuse and it apparently meant my Westie didn't go to sleep when locked up so drained the battery.
