L322 Sill replacement

Seem to have a recurring theme with my range rover! go to fix a problem and find 2 more on the way!

Anyway While removing the old rusted through brake pipes I found a substantial amount of rust where the rear section of the side step bolts to, did a bit of digging and before I knew it I had a huge hole in the side of my sill! great...

Im not a fan of bodging and I'm not experienced with a welder so I was thinking about getting new inner and outer sills fitted, I haven't looked at the rear wheel arch area on the outside but I'm not sure I really want to yet! Does anyone know a rough cost of having new sills fitted? or where I can even get them? Ive had a look online but can find nothing Crying or Very sad

Have you got any photos so we can see what sort of area you are talking about?
Is any of it visible or is it behind the covers?
My brother runs a restoration company and repairs mainly VW campers and other classics back to a very high standard and removing body work to access other body work and fabricating panels to fit both and replace is very time consuming if you want it done properly.

If it's gone there I would imagine you will have extensive rust under the sill covers and around the jacking points...

It is an easy sill to repair, no compound curves so it should be easy enough to do, possibly a fare bit of stripping out though...

Any decent bodyshop should be able to sort it... Thumbs Up Pete

Have a shop around, many body shops are not interested in the rust repairs and prefer to bolt on a new panel to a crashed car. Some don't mind and the restoration type companies are quite often more economical to use and are more used to cutting out rust and preventing it coming back rather than welding a patch over a hole to pass an MOT this year
