England 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 SC V8 Buckingham Blue

For goodness sake people, listen to Miggit on this one! I fitted an 020 a couple of years ago. I leave my car sitting doing nothing for over 3 weeks at a time and have no trouble starting. Every so often stick a C-Tek on but haven't yet this winter! Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007
Mondeo Estate 1997-2001
Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987
Fiat 127 1982 - 1984

The petrol engined cars had a smaller battery fitted, an 019, but the larger 020 will fit... they are the same height and width, but the 020 is about an inch longer Thumbs Up

So cannot get either 020 or AGM Vartas off the shelf around my neck of the woods ,but can get the 020 by tomorrow at £150 inc and fitted .....now about this extra inch in length you mention Is this going to make any difference in fitting as my Mrs says even an inch makes the difference Confused Embarassed Rolling with laughter Whistle

Jack mines a 2008 , were the later models smaller battery compartments?

The honest answer is I don't know for sure.

Searching on here you will find others have had difficulty getting a 20 to fit. Some have hack-sawed the feet off the battery to get it to fit, others say it is possible it's just a tight fit.

If you are paying someone to fit it, I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye on them whilst they're doing it and make sure your bonnet is in access mode. 2024 P550e Autobiography

In my 2007 car the 020 would just fit, but then there was insufficient room for the pos terminal to fit correctly (See Battery positive terminal thread), cutting off the left side "foot" solved this but it is tight! I think the various opinions may be due to different types of leads fitted, mine has the fuse type (2006 onwards?) which hangs down next to battery case. I think perhaps the earlier pyrotechnic types may have sat above the battery? I guess case designs may also vary slightly, mine was/is a Varta.

Jon.

J evro, Assuming that you're managing to survive, but it may be a pain, then get your battery from here https://www.tayna.co.uk/610-200-Varta-Silv...P3200.html They deliver, so you don't have to go anywhere... I personally haven't used that company, I used another called puredrive batteries, but after Brexit, the effect on the pound has taken it's toll and puredrive have gone from the cheapest battery to one of the more expensive battery suppliers Sad So if your in need get one from tayna (many peeps on here have) before their price shoots up by 30% Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Holy old thread revival....

My Varta H15 AGM has failed just short of 1 year old. 10.6v and no start which jumps immediately to 14.3 when the engine is jump started.

Ctek charger goes to float stage almost immediately, so looks like high resistance internally.

Am looking at warranty options...

IF you got it from tayna I think you'll have to ship it - your cost - to them - thats if you can find anyone to courier it , then they'll test it and find in their own favour that you've allowed it to become discharged/sulphated , so best to just bite the bullet and get a new battery (thats what I did anyway Laughing )

Indeed it did (Tayna). I wonder just how anyone would get a battery back to them in case of issues. Paying at least 50% more locally seems almost worthwhile.

Hey ho...

yes , lesson learned here too , spoke to one of their sales people after my battery started playing up after 15 months or so , and from the conversation we had decided that I'd be wasting more money sending it back to them so plumped for another battery instead from another supplier

Whistle An H15 is an AGM battery, afaik the SC like the rest of the L322's was fitted with a normal type battery, either 019 or 020. The charging system isn't setup to charge the AGM and it doesn't supply enough voltage. I would check fitment with LR before you fork out for the wrong battery, and if your going down the warranty route I'd be very vague about the age of your car, I think it was 2011 when they were first fitted Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... I recently got a Duracell branded 020 from Denka batteries.

A very good price and they will give you a part exchange price for your old battery of about £15

It fits exactly, although there is no "spare" room! and the terminal cables also fit very well too.

When I bought the car it had a Bosch 019 which wasn't quite man enough
Best wishes
Glen

The 020 is the correct fitment for the diesel, and yes it's a tight fit but it goes in there without having to resort to the use of a crowbar or hammer!!

The 019 is the battery for warmer climates and the petrol engine.. although you can use an 020 on all models of the L322 2002-2009, and as all versions have a lot of electrical gubbins on them a larger battery is a no-brainer Thumbs Up

As far as Denka goes, I have been dealing with them for decades, and have never had a problem. I'm not sure if they do mail order, I've always gone to their trade counter! The only thing I will say is,I believe that the Duracell batteries are only warrantied for 4 years, were as the silver Varta has a 5 year warranty, and is also the brand that LR fit in the factory..... The only difference is the Genuine LR batteries carry a small Varta badge and they are about 40% more expensive.... So personally I'd fit an OEM Varta Silver 020 and get the most power for a lot less that LR prices and forsake the LR badge ( which is only a sticker and theoretically could be transferred from one battery to another for the purists ) Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
