A cautionary tale which will hopefully help some of you to avoid the same problem. My OSF xenon bulb failed (or so I thought, more later) the other day. I went to the Auto Bulbs Direct site and put my reg no in. Selected the right option ('LAND ROVER - RANGE ROVER - SUV HID XENON - 2007-2008 (57)') then picked an Osram replacement for £45 and paid for next day delivery. Tried to fit the bulb today and the electrical connector just didn't seem to push home properly, however I managed to do it (with freezing cold fingers) however the headlight still didn't work. This is when the problem arose, as I could not disconnect the bulb. I have ended up breaking the metal casing around the connector getting it off. It turns out that Auto Bulbs Direct have sold me a D3S bulb when what I actually need is a D1S. So, be careful. Yes, I know I should have looked at the old bulb but I trusted the website information. I called ABD who apologised (but will not accept any liability for damage that may have been caused to my connector), told me that the wrong information is on the website, and will swap the bulb for the correct one. That's the word of warning, now for the advice please. Despite swapping the bulbs over the headlight still will not work. Has the damage to the metal casing around the connector caused this? Is it the ballast/ignitor as I have just read about in other posts? How can I try to diagnose the problem? Thanks from a rather cold and off fellow owner. 1982 SIII 88â€� diesel

the two bulbs do look very similar...... and you might have damaged the ballast when you switched on..

Can you swap the ballast over, from the other side, to rule it out as the problem. ?

The ballast is causing the problem genuine Hella replacement ordered from eBay for £38.50 and the incorrect bulb has been returned. 1982 SIII 88â€� diesel
