I absolutely love Defenders, but they would be no good for my everyday transport.

It, like anything else is a punt. They may go up in value, however it's down to who will buy them in the future. There are to many of them around for them to go up just based on rarity value, which is what generally drives the market, it is folks desire to own them.

I bought one for two reasons. One I've had a few and like them and secondly as an investment. I had mine valued by Landrover last week and its gone up by 6k in the two years I've owned it. I agree with NM Jones and if you buy one and really really look after it you wont lose out.

A mate of mine bought one of the very last off the line, a SWB TDI, and the dealer said if he brought it back in a year, no Matter what the mileage, he would give him £10k more than he paid for it! |

I agree with MMJ and Jayboy. Here any foreign spec car MUST be at least 15 years old. So the TDCI is unobtainable, and the Td5 is "the NEW one with all the computers". Seriously. For those who must have one, the 300 tdi is the engine of choice because spares are getting harder to source than for the 200 tdi. But the 200 tdi is still very well thought of and very desirable. When I bought my FFRR (4 yrs old, top spec except for the supercharger) I could not have bought a 20 year old, abused Defender for the same $$. It's what happens when supply and demand get distorted. I wonder about the value of Defenders once the new one shows up (assuming JLR gets it right). Everyone likes the current one because, no matter how old, any Defender/LR90/LR110 can be facelifted to appear "new'. With the new one, that will no longer be possible. |

I've got one of the last TD5 90's and its definitely increased in value - it's a long term keeper |

There are too many of them around for the value to sustain £10k over book price in my opinion.
