I'm planning on flushing out my coolant system next week and renewing the coolant. I have 3 x 5litres ready mixed g48 coolant at hand and also a litre bottle of the concentrated g48.
.I've read that it needs either 17.5 litres for the refill..is this correct? Anyway what's the best method of flushing the system and I'm also unsure how to drain it..I've just been under the car and can't see a drain plug so I presume you pull a hose? If so what one. Apologies for my lack of expertise (again)

and I am guessing that the cylinder block drain plug on a V8 is as inaccessible as it is on the TD6  .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

@ Pete thanks. I've downloaded it but for some reason on the iPhone 7 you can't remove the pop up to link rave to Facebook/twitter ect? Do you guys then attach a hosepipe to flush out system?

I just stuck a hose in the heater pipes and back flushed it through the engine, use both hoses until the water flows clean, problem with that is you end up with a lot of plain water in the system so you then have to top it up with neat antifreeze and you have diluted stuff...

My old rad had a drain cock, luckily I only tried to use it when I replaced the rad, it's plastic and it snapped off, so if you have one I wouldn't use it.... Pete

There are two block drain plugs but the passenger side or left as you are sitting in it doesn't drain much but the right side is easyish to reach and does drain a load of coolant out the block .
If you remove the undertray and get the front up on blocks and and / or axle stands so it can't lower itself and get a torch and slide on your back underneath you can see it just in front of the starter motor.
From memory I think I used a socket and extension with a ratchet and possibly a swivel joint but don't think so. You will need a new copper drain plug washer.
I used forte flush in mine first.
If you don't drain the block then you can leave the undertray in place and put your arm over it from underneath to undo the drain plug and I attach a length of hose to the drain valve straight down through the hole in the undertray.
Bleeding the system with the front raised helps and meeknet site has some good advice.
I am guessing this is a 4.4 m62 engine

Aye it's the 4.4v8 . I've had it since July and the antifreeze looked remarkably clear when I checked. Removed some old coolant then eventually had to add 2litres neat g48 to make it less likely to freeze.
I'm doing the thermostat so decided to drain the system and renew.! Great pointers gents.thankyou
