TD6 Limp Mode

I have found 2 posts with a similar problem both seem to put the problem down to a fuelling issue, but would value any expert help.

About 2 months ago, the car after a 20 mile 70-80 mph motorway run, when idling sounded rough, and had no power, car drove home but as with previous posts only revved to 3000 rpm with no power. To me felt as if turbo was not kicking in. Left car for 24 hours, started and drove fine, no problems identified on the dash or able to be read by obd reader. Have covered at least 2500 miles since then with no issues until yesterday. When same thing happened, stopped car, switched ignition off. Now wont go for more than 2-10 miles without same limp mode happening. STill nothing being able to be read by my OBD reader.

The car generally is used for longer runs (70 mile round trip) so is not used as a school run 3 mile trips.

It has covered 126,000, and was serviced with all filters changed when I bought it last February 10,000 miles ago. I also after reading advice on here, had a full gearbox flush and filter change by an LR specialist.

Car is a 2006 TD6.

Any advice really appreciated. Previous : 2 x Discos, 2 x E Class Mercs, 2 X JAguar XJ's, Renault Megane, Peugeot 407 saloon, BMW X5 3.0 TD, BMW 325i Convertible, BMW 525d Estate

Did the service include the turbo filter, as these can become clogged.?.
If not change for vortex type, plenty on the bay.
could be fuel pump issue, but could also be injectors,, has the fuel filter been changed recently? If you have run the tank down past quarter full it may have picked up debris from tank.
at 10k you need to service it again.
What obd reader are you using? The iid tool is the best on the market for fault finding.
trial and error I'm afraid, start with simplest and cheapest first.
Hope it helps. Thumbs Up

Many thanks for your time, Turbo filter was not replaced so will get that and the fuel filter done now as a first step, and come back when done.

Thanks again.. Previous : 2 x Discos, 2 x E Class Mercs, 2 X JAguar XJ's, Renault Megane, Peugeot 407 saloon, BMW X5 3.0 TD, BMW 325i Convertible, BMW 525d Estate

Sorted ????

Hi again

Have left this for over 1000 miles and seems to now be ok.

I changed the Turbo Filter only, car was perfect for about a hundred miles then problem re-occurred exactly as before.

I continued to use the car for a few days on short trips with problem, then filled it up completely with new Fuel from a supermarket. Now as I say after over 1000 miles problem has completely disappeared.

My view is that the Turbo Filter was blocked but the real problem was the Censored fuel. It was purchased from a smaller outlet rather than my normal supermarket fuel. I will return here if problem comes back.

Hope this helps other people with same symptoms.

Many Thanks Gregdav for your assistance Thumbs Up Previous : 2 x Discos, 2 x E Class Mercs, 2 X JAguar XJ's, Renault Megane, Peugeot 407 saloon, BMW X5 3.0 TD, BMW 325i Convertible, BMW 525d Estate
