Headlight wiper motor rebuild

Has anyone tried to repair the headlight wiper motor? I found a breakdown of a similar Volvo motor and in their case the grease gets thick or even solidifies.

I had a look in mine and remember finding they couldn't be repaired due to a gear being damaged , I bought a new pair for a mere £300 but you can pick them up for £30 on eBay

Thanks. I'm even finding them new here as low as $200. It's not necessary to have them working in the US but I like to try to keep it all working. Most of what I will find used will have about the same wear and tear as any dead or dying one so if it can't fixed might as well go new.

I am not sure if i kept my dead ones, i probably did as I am a bit of a hoarder, i will try and take a pic of my old one taken apart. i think the problem is they have water running through the centre of them to feed the wiper and they freeze up and the wiper sticks to the glass and get damaged when trying to use them.
Either that or it is just wear and tear

Yes lots going on. Looks like in your case the gear on the output shaft was the problem. Would a spot weld and reshape worked on that metal?

That is a good call, i have a mig welder that I could use to deposit a blob of weld on the gear and then reshape.
I think somebody has already had one side apart, may have been me, and lost the rack that turns the wiper

The other option is to remove the wipers, blank off the wiper arm holes and fit the high pressure washer and jets from the later model , will take a bit of fiddling to get the washers to fit into the bumper though

Hmmmm.... are there 2 pumps or one? They look like they mount horizontal compared to vertical on the washer tank. Beter check to see if RAVE covers this year.

On my 2003 there are 3 pumps on the washer reservoir - rear screen, front screen and headlamps.

I was referencing the 2006 MY that did away with the wipers and just has jets.
