2006 side-light/headlight bulbs??

The dipped beam head-lights on our 2006 L322 seem to be quite poor, even though it has xenon head-lights.

Looking at the lights this evening, there is an additional bulb in the same housing as the side-light bulb. These look to be a removable halogen headlight bulb but they don't come on with either main beam, or dip. What are they supposed to do?

Thanks,

Glen.

as i have done Glen, you can adjust the headlights up a bit so the light spread is better...

some members have bought some philips or osram replacement bulbs that claim to give extra beam power..

Could be. Do they only come on when turning?

Does yours have the separate indicator unit?

Stan,

Yes, I was contemplating adjusting them up before I realised that these other bulbs were there. It has just been MOTed but it seems that most garages adjust them down, if they are too high but not up, if they are too low.

The primary main bean and dip head-lights are xenon, so no possibility of a bulb upgrade, and with the xenons it shouldn't need them.

Indicators are above the side-light but still in the main front light housing.

Yes, on cars without the cornering light there is a chrome blank in place of the bulb.

Just found out that the xenon bulbs can be replaced, I didn't realise, I though that they were a sealed unit. Have found some Osram Nightbreaker bulbs that claim to give 70% more light, so, if adjustment doesn't work, these will be the next option.

Looks like both the cornering light bulbs might be blown, as with the car running and stationary, turning the wheel from lock to lock does not make them illuminate.
