Just got all my bits for my install, i think the instructions have to read carefully as there is instructions for both the 2010 -> and ->2010 models in the same sheath of papers. i dont think you have to use the big blue plug in the pre 2010 wiring looking at it.

Jammer - I have those 2 white plugs on my harness too. Im not sure they should be on a pre 2010 harness...... check your part no. for the harness. if its 00080 then you had the latter 2010 -> harness, and this could be why your button dont work. your wiring kit should be no vplmv0022

the positive connection goes piggyback into a plug on the top of the fuse box. as far as i can tell

Had a run through of the whole process in the book and I'm missing a part!!!!! only a small bit and I'm not going to fit them for a while so hopefully the dealer will be able to locate it. its the small clip on plug which goes in the roof console, worst comes to the worst i can splice the wires with a crimp, not ideal though.

Just noticed that the harness that has been supplied vplmv0080 comes with autobiog black instructions. According to parts info the wiring harness i have is the latest part no and superceedes from VPLMv0023, however there are the 2 extra white plugs on this newer harness which dont appear on the older one. can't think what they are for, but the black instructions show where they connect in, however this isn't shown on the earlier harness instructions as the plugs aren't there. I wonder what they do incase it is autobiog black specific....... can't think the harness in the car would be different though so hoping that the connectors they plug into are in the car . There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Are you sure it's not already connected to the plug? Mine was, I had to remove it then put the wire in and then re connect

ah yes, so it is, a 2010. plug deffo not in the harness though.

I have those 2 connectors on the loom too and looking in the autobiog book which came with the harness they do go somewhere. there is 2 connectors in and around the glove box area which loop through. its not detailed in the A4 instructions though. p4 step 10 in the harness manual.

however, in that instructions the 2 larger plugs aren't used, the ones which loop through the unit under the dash. they are taped out of the way and the 2 white ones are used instead. I think that generally speaking if the white ones are present on the car then we use them, if not then use the 2 larger plugs. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I called a dealer today and they want £700 to fit saying it's a days work.

Hi, agree with Dan on this, took me a little longer than 4 hours, but I didn't have the luxury of a big workshop. If you have some basic tools, google any bits your not sure on, ie removing some trim, you can save £250 if you can get them fitted for £700. Others have paid £900, so we worth doing yourself. SC 4.2, 2012 face lifted, 25K miles, 1 previous owner

Took LR dealer Guy Salmon in Aylesford a day and half to fit mine! They ended up supplying an Ewok as a loan car as they originally quoted 4 hours labour (Ewok = nah). Well done to those brave souls that have fitted them themselves, hats off to you guys!  SDV8 AB MY 2019

I agree with AndyB - respect to them that fitted themselves. I eventually got a good deal on supply and fit (took almost a day) so didn't need to have a go myself - I'd still be struggling and getting frustrated.

It was a bit of a drag to get over to Leeds (Green Oval) but well worth it although the taxis to and from Leeds centre with SWMBO and the Christmas shopping and the pub lunch - oh and the pub in the afternoon all added to the cost, but I can't stop looking at them and operating them, great things, very pleased.

Oh and I pointed out to SWMBO that they might be her Christmas present as I can get in and out without any trouble - but I suspect it wont be  Geoff

I don't know, but I reckon they broke something when fitting the steps and electrics and had to order a replacement part overnight I saw them driving the car into the workshop at 08:00am on the first day, all very suspect. Still, they did a good job in the end for the offer price and at least I have a 2 year warranty

@ Stan, I don't have a LR warranty on the vehicle so that wasn't such a concern but I just didn't fancy the time doing it or the actual doing it as I knew I would struggle despite others pointing out how easy it is. But even at the price 'wot I paid they're great things to have and if I can put this in the same para. as LR - good value too  Geoff
