excessive brake pad wear on L405

Has anyone experienced excessive brake pad wear on L405. I have covered 7000mls mainly city driving but also Mways using cruise control with distance setting on furthest and the pads are down to 3mm approx all round.
I used to get over 20k mms on 350 ML. Is this common?

How do you know the pads are down to 3mm (has a garage advised you to that effect or have you seen it for yourself)?

I had a puncture and they checked the pads.

I was told by the main dealer that the fronts were fine but the rears had only a few months left on them. I think the rears might be binding. Car has done 21000 miles.

If you were down to 3mm the warning light would be on.

Adaptive cruise must be hard on brakes - following something using it is really irritating with brake lights constantly flashing away in situations where you'd just lift off without it on.

I've seen them for myself. Brake warning light is not on, I agree the cruise control is very annoying. I believe this is the reason for the pad wear.

Confusing!! I seriously considered two used SD8s both with rear pads replaced at 24k, but still plenty of meat left on the original fronts. Fronts "always wear out first" though not on the L405, so it seems. Pads do seem to be rather small. Is this a brake design flaw, LR?

30k miles on my 5.0SC and at last service I'm told the pads are at only 50% so I'm happy.

Don't forget I drive hard enough to get the brakes smoking or fading. But despite the love of speed I've always been had good mileage out of brakes

I've had over 30k out of mine - and I also drive reasonably hard.

Not sure how much is left on them, but they weren't flagged in the last service.
