How do you know the pads are down to 3mm (has a garage advised you to that effect or have you seen it for yourself)? |

I was told by the main dealer that the fronts were fine but the rears had only a few months left on them. I think the rears might be binding. Car has done 21000 miles. |

If you were down to 3mm the warning light would be on. |

Adaptive cruise must be hard on brakes - following something using it is really irritating with brake lights constantly flashing away in situations where you'd just lift off without it on. |

I've seen them for myself. Brake warning light is not on, I agree the cruise control is very annoying. I believe this is the reason for the pad wear. |

Confusing!! I seriously considered two used SD8s both with rear pads replaced at 24k, but still plenty of meat left on the original fronts. Fronts "always wear out first" though not on the L405, so it seems. Pads do seem to be rather small. Is this a brake design flaw, LR? |

30k miles on my 5.0SC and at last service I'm told the pads are at only 50% so I'm happy.

I've had over 30k out of mine - and I also drive reasonably hard.
