The lower ambient light levels inside the car and the lower light levels from headlights behind you will affect the interior mirror auto-dimming, and the door mirrors are controlled by the interior mirror over the LIN bus, so yes in short. The sensor is in the interior rear view mirror. Are you sure the doors have the electrochromatic glass? I thought it was only on Vogue SE and A/B. Easy to tell as there's 4 wires on the dimming ones and only 2 on the non dimming.

The door mirrors definitely change to a blue ish colour when bright lights hit them. Maybe it was an option at the time. Don't want to affect radio reception. Thanks for that |

OK, if you look below, the bit circled in yellow in the light sensor. When headlights shine through your back window and hit it the auto-dimming operates. This one sensor controls all 3 mirrors via the LIN bus

But if the tint is cutting down the light from a car following to the extent that the auto dim won't operate then it propably doesn't need to dim the mirrors anyway, making the system redundant?, if you know what I mean.

Honestly doesn't make a blind bit of difference, I have heavy factory tints to the rear and my electrochromatic thingys work a treat. |

The cars with factory tints may be calibrated differently. My current car has factory tints and is fine. A previous one came with aftermarket tints and it stopped the auto dim function form working. I removed the film and all was well again. |

I used to use proper custom fit blinds in the rear of my td6 and thought they were better as you could take them out in the winter etc.....
