i was about to buy an e60 m5 untill this terrible weather made me think about a FFRR. I really like the supercharged versions...not really because of the engine but because of the spec.

Can i ask what range you guy think is the bet and what options should i be looking for...whats the difference between Vogue & Vogue SE?

Do all the supercharged variants have the general highest spec?

I suggest you jump on ebay and grab a brochure for the years you are thinking of buying as this will tell you all about the car plus the various spec across the range and on top of that the spec'able options.

If you were looking from 2005-2010 there are a LOT of different variations all will have different levels of equipment even from one Vogue to a couple of years newer Vogue.

must be 2007MY onwards as has loads of enhanhancements (check out the wiki links), but includes Terrain Response system, Electronic brake, Better seats, much improved/revised door card layout, etc.

Good luck, make sure that you get one that has been looked after, full dealer service history, etc.

My opinion is slightly different, the Terrain Response is good, however the 06 MY seats are slightly bigger / better and more comfortable imho, the electronic park brake is a bloody pain, all of ours have had problems,

a lot depends on your budget. Money no object go for a TDV8 Vogue SE or a 5.00 Supercharged, for me there is not enough disparity between the performance of a 4.2 sc and a TDV8 - the only reason to get a 4.2 is if you hate petrol. The TDV8 has a fuel burn heater which also swings it for me, you can get into a toasty warm, demisted frost free car and the fuel consumption is good at 25 ish mpg, petrol seems to average out at 15ish -our diesels do about 10mpg per gallon more than petrol.

I have the FFRR and a D3, both have the Electronic Park Brake. In all the time we've had both cars (2 yrs FFRR and 3.5 yrs D3), we've never had any issues with the EPB.

I guess that people will always rate there specific model and its features as the best. Any way you look at it, however, all models of the FFRR are great!!

you are lucky,

a lot have had problems with them sticking on, sticking off, not releasing and squealing. Bunged up with brake dust, muck or electric faults. With a conventional hand brake it is either on or off - you are not relying on electrics to apply or release it for you.

Had LR / RR's for over 35 yrs - never a problem until this bloody electronic gizmo was slapped on just to keep up with other premium motors.
