New 2002 RR 3.0 TD6 100k on the clock - What service?

Hi guys,

So the car looks to have been serviced as per the stamps in the service schedule book but there's no info on what exactly was done at each service.

As the car has done 100k what sort of things should i look to get done (or check they have been done?)

Diff oils?
Transmission box oil?
Gearbox oil?

What other bits need doing?

Thanks and sorry for the open ended question but I want to ensure the vehicle is looked after and won't go BANG on me!

I'd change ALL the fluids

Engine oil
Coolant
Brake fluid
Power steering fluid
Gearbox oil
Both Axles
Transfer box

Plus filters where needed, also fuel filters

That's a good start, it in no way guarantees that it won't go bang, it just means you can blame someone else because you did all you could do... Thumbs Up Pete

"Diffs
Don't forget the diffs"

as in:

"Both Axles"

Laughing

But seriously, if changing all these fluids, ensure you can undo the filler plug on all items before you undo the drain plug! (Been there, didn't, felt stupid Wink) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Good advice all round and if you follow it you should have peace of mind.

One trhing though - who did the scheduled servicing? if the dates/mileages are correct and appear kosha and have been done by either Main Dealers or LR indies all the above should have been done on time/mileage.

That said if in any doubt do them again - and dont use cheap fluids make sure they are the correct LR approved spec.

Sorry egg sucking lesson over.

I know that Pete referred to "filters" but might I add an explicit mention of the breather filter which is often overlooked, and isn't mentioned in either of the two service schedules.

I also replace front and rear wiper blades on every car I buy.

I know that it's a pain, but at that age I might be tempted to replace both polyvee belts and inspect their tensioners.

Finally, with winter approaching, unless the battery is known to be fairly new then for the sake of £100 I'd replace it.

Agreed. Worth changing it for a vortex filter which overcomes the problem of not changing or cleaning the felt part.
