Motor factors one with four year warranty £ 90
Is the landrover one that much more special?
My spec is vogue se with rear entertainment and side steps. Will these options on the car need the lr battery?

Get a varta or similar. 110 cranks or amps or whatever. Should be c.£100-120.

Quite a few members say the bosch 020 S5 is a good one. (110 ah)

Depends on your attitude.... the OE one is better - there's plenty of threads on the subject - and Craigs invaluable experience - all seem to confirm that the OE is best

However, I had a Bosch S5 from Euro Parts - 5 year warranty - failed after 4 years & they gave me a brand new one without any questions.

On that basis, I'd happily buy another Bosch from Euro Parts......

Just speaking WITHOUT being an expert but I can't imagine Land Rover have a battery factory making faculty so you would have to assume that they buy their batteries from someone that does. If you follow that logic then obviously LR will be adding a profit margin onto their cost price While I respect others choice to stick with OEM , I personally buy OEM quality and not manufacturers ' genuine parts ' whenever possible.

In the case of electronics or the likes of batteries I buy the best I can find in my budget , I bought a 950 cca / 120 ah one for 85 stg ex vat and so far so good.

The battery is AGM.
AGM is preferable for the charging system of more recent FFRRs.

The standard mantra of "go for the biggest lead acid battery that will fit" does not convince me on the more recent FFRRs.

So Didley....put another AGM back in.

And then there is the question of whether a new battery is a dealer job......some think it is for these.

I have noticed that the AGM is only a 3 year warranty So once again having an older car has it advantages..... I'm surprised that the later cars need AGM, are they stop / start? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Not stop start.
But LR put a "clever" charging system onto the cars so that they are not constantly subject to a charge as you usually find, but only when the battery is on its knees. Saves a tiny bit on fuel apparently.
AGM batteries are better for this season of use (ability to produce an output when only at 1/2 charge and can be recharged faster.)

The question I have is whether it really is necessary for dealers to install new batteries because the system needs to be reset to recognise when the replacement battery is fully charged.

Is there a setting in the IID tool for this? It would make sense if a reset is required, but I would have thought that just replacing the battery will reset the system  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
