As far as I'm aware, yes.

I'm sure someone with a bit more specific knowledge will be along soon but from what I've read you will need to code it.

It turns out that my faults have returned, they happen when the car gets hot and throws up HDC / DSC, air suspension and trans fail safe. I did have voltage problems and they've been resolved so I'm looking seriously at the ABS module.

I've been looking at getting it repaired / refurbished and in conversation with the ECU experts they've all said that if they can't repair it and they supply a replacement, same year, same part numbers, I'll have to have it coded.

I tend to believe them as the coding has nothing to do with them. If you have a look on the bay for P.A Soft 1.40 you'll find its for BMWs but as our cars are basically built using BMW electronics you can, and I have, coded replacement parts for my Range Rover using it.

I don't know if you want to have a go with P.A Soft 1.40 but for £20 it might solve one or two problems. Have a quick look on YouTube for it and you'll see what it can do.

Update

So bought the cheaper reader i930. The fault says reservoir pressure static when filling. Rest it and came back so looked on forum and thought would try new piston ring in compressor as cheap. Done that and still comes back with the same fault, any ideas ? it never seems to sink down so didn't thing the air bags were leaking. What should be the next thing to try, I know I needed the IID tool but v expensive.

I have the i930 too, have you tried reading the reservoir pressure? It's tricky to work out, you go to read values or something along those lines, then scroll to reservoir pressure, press enter, then press esc and it will show you the live value.

Sounds to me like it could be the pressure sensor thats duff, so it doesn't know how much air is in the tank, therefore doesn't want to overfill. The part is freely available, around £40... I'm not sure what it's like to fit but someone will be along shortly Smile

Using the i930 do a data stream in the eas part of the menu...select reservoir pressure and it will tell you what the pressure is..mine wouldn't go any higher than 0.09 bar...narrowed it down to either the resovoir pressure sensor or the compressor...turned out it was simply the compressor that was knackered...

That's 167, still a bit low... mine is always smack on 180 when the compressor has finished filling... are you waiting for it to fill completely? it will turn the compressor off if it gets too hot and then top the system up a few minutes later when it's cooled down... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi Pete

So if the pressure is too low does that mean it needs a new compressor and that fitting a new piston ring did not do the trick ? 2006 3.0 TD6 Vogue Black - sold

This has worried me now, mine sits at 11.2bar (also measure on iCarsoft i930)... Will have to test again once front shocks have been replaced!!

Tested mine tonight! Once it reaches off road or standard driving height it sticks at 11.57? Compressors a month old and cars not throwing faults..simply refuses to go to said pressure...funny feeling it's the icarsoft giving me an incorrect reading..well I hope it is Laughing ..only way to know for sure is re reading pressure once I have my iid tool...

From RAVE...

Reservoir
The reservoir supplies pressurised air to the four air springs, via the valve block, to enable the air suspension system to carry out ride height changes. The ECU controls operation of the air suspension compressor to maintain a pressure of 13.7 bar (199 lbf/in 2 ) when the engine is running.

Mine sits in the low 190's... can't understand why yours would be lower, if the compressor is worn out it usually sits very low.... hopefully it's the icarsofty thingy.... Thumbs Up Pete

Me too! Hopefully the new compressors not dodgy Banging Head ..wont know for definite until I get the other diagnostic..funny thing is my brother has the same diagnostic and car and his readings are under 12 bar. Also don't understand why mine sits bang on 11.57 bar ..it's my own fault for being tight when I was looking for machine Laughing What would be interesting would be for other owners of the i930 to check their reservoir pressure as a comparison

Sorry for the late reply, I charge for my service's but I'm not expensive £30 for the first half hour plugged in full diagnostics on car and LPG

if I can't read it for any reason there is no fee (just a call out charge should I be working mobile)

I travel to leeds, stoke on trent regularly, I can give some advice online for free (I won't give advise that could be dangerous to someone not really knowing what they are doing)

hope this is of help to you
