Do you get better customer service with L405 (than L322)?

A forum member recently said:

"... I was going to get an L405 early next year... I'm pretty much sold on a [different make of car because] their customer service certainly puts LR to shame... "

So what do the L405 owners think, especially those who've had an L322?

Thumbs Up

If I bought a vehicle because of good customer service then Land Rover would be last on the list. I only get looked after because the DP is a personal friend of mine. It will be refreshing once LR fall from grace, as they inevitably will. It goes in cycles. Maybe then they will have to raise their game in order to compete.

My L405 went in for its main service and crank position sensor recall yesterday at Farnell Land Rover , Guiseley ( Leeds) and I couldn't fault them.

Brand new RR Sport loaner sat there ready yesterday morning and they undertook the service, recall, a few small niggles sorted and a mini valet. Service advisor kept me updated throughout the service and even got a little video emailed over to show the safety check. Picked mine up tonight as arranged / promised.

Looks like I've found a good MD, so will be sticking with them methinks Thumbs Up GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

"... they lost all my business after that."

Does anyone think 'they' are overly concerned (especially if we're talking about the obsolete L322)?

I'm not convinced.

I would anticipate that a large majority of LR vehicles are not 'owned' outright and/ or by private customers but are either leased, financed, corporate vehicles that 'the firm' or some other 'deal' covers so that LR franchises will maintain them.

I might be wrong of course but if that hypothesis is anywhere near accurate, then 'the man on the street' might not be too much of a worry.

A bit like 'real football fans' being priced out of going to watch their premier league team every week. It doesn't really matter if they stay away from the ground due to TV deals and 'the prawn sandwich brigade.' etc...

that's the thing, we don't buy them for the excellent customer service. It's the brand.

No. I think that Land Rover's sales success has made the dealers lazy and complacent.

Poor service compared to other marques that sell £100k cars.

Long waits for servicing, poor sales follow up. All a bit poor really.

Well, I've always had excellent service from my MD, having bought Freelanders, RRSs and now the FF. Never a problem, always do what they say and don't charge like a wounded rhino, age and model of car immaterial.

My worry is the move by JLR to have both brands operating from the same site. My MD doesn't have the space to have a Jag showroom and a LR one, or the required outside space for the used vehicles, so I'm guessing they will be taken off the list soon. I suspect there are quite a few long standing LR dealers out there in small country towns who provide great service to a loyal customer base who are about to get booted off. Very short sighted IMHO. Then we'll have to use the big town dealerships whose idea of customer service is nowhere near the same.
