Heated wheel plug

Im into week three of my 03 Vogue (V8 naturally) and its time to sort a few things. When I got her it has a nice new flappy paddle steering wheel - not too bothered about this as I had it on my X5 (retro fitted ) but never really used it. Any way, it also has the heated wheel button. But this doesnt appear to work. Ive pulled the air bag and it has the ecu and is connected into the clock spring ( my first thoughts are previous numpty has tried plugging the paddles in instead)
So all seams good in the wheel, also checked fuse in the glovebox - present and not blown. The only thing I can see is this plug pictured below which doesnt have a home. Is this anything to do with it not working ?

Thoughts please........

does look like a power connector of some sort, the steering wheel heater would draw a fair amount of power, best thing to do is turn on heater and put a multimeter into the plug to test

If the flappy paddles are working then it's probably been rewired by using the heated steering wheel circuit which was the accepted way of doing the mod.
There are only limited connections through the clock spring hence the need to re-wire and lose another circuit if you want the paddles. Alternative ways of wiring the paddles was via an RF/wireless connection which meant you could keep the heated steering.

Follow the flappy paddle wiring and you'll probably find the answer, if they are not connected and the heated wheel is you'll probably be OK. Don't reconnect the heated wheel connection without checking first.

Steering wheel heater draws very little current, runs on 0.75mm wires, 10amp fuse so it's probably around 100watts

Brown and red wire from the wheel to the clock spring then Green with black tracer and Brown from the clock spring into the main loom...

There are several redundant plugs under the dash.... Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks Pete. As I said in my original post,,the flaps are not connected. I will dig a bit deeper and break out the multimeter. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

quick update. Managed to get round to testing a couple of things. I have power to the wheel ecu and Ive got a reading of 2.1 ohms for the element. Not sure what this should be though ? anyone have a figure for the element resistance ? No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

12volts at the maximum 10amp rating of the fuse (and it probably won't be anywhere near it) is 1.2 Ohms, so I guess it's probably goosed...

Can you check power to it, or take a known power to it and see if it heats up..??

Recon wheel with new leather is only just over £100 from PowerfulUK... Thumbs Up Pete

Such a shame if it is goosed. It's a real nice piano black off a 2010. Can't be any older than year or so. Will try powering it from another source to prove or disprove the element. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

2.1ohms sounds about right for a heating element, which is about 75-100 watt depending on voltage (say nice round 2ohm for easy maths and @ 12v would be 6A and therefore 72W).
