The TC stays full of oil and it won't drain... Only half the oil comes out on a change....

When I did my TD6 with the GM5L40E gearbox, I first dropped the sump and cleaned it out and changed the filter... this got about 4 litres out.

It should be "RHD". As in England, Japan, South Africa, Republic of Ireland etc (not forgetting Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). |

Just to clarify, on the 5HP24 the hot oil leaves the transmission from the port on the LH side of the casing (i.e. the pipe with the banjo bolt) and returns from the cooler through the port on the RH side of the casing (i.e. the one at the front facing forwards)
Phil (Edit - Oil cooler removed from diagram to avoid ambiguity) Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() Last edited by RRPhil on 10th Oct 2016 2:32pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Yes, rather unfortunately, RAVE contradicts itself regarding the cooler connections

So the banjo bolt is the feed and the straight coupling is the return.... which is easier to connect to a hose to dump the fluid in to your measuring container |

I have the GM box so May have a difference but I would suspect from above that your levels were low.

Level will be very low, usually get a couple of ltrs down your arm if you remove the filler with the engine off... Pete
