Headlight conversion water pipe issue

My recently purchased 03 vogue v8 already had the 06 headlight conversion when I bought it. It's got a cone air filter fitted which I understand is due to the stock air box not fitting due to the headlights. Question is, the hose that goes from water pump to top of the rad has a small outlet which has been blanked off. I am assuming the stock air box has some kind of heating / water connection that is now redundant. Is there a more elegant solution to this ?
The little pipe is In the far left of the picture.

Hi,

It looks like you have the wrong hose fitted because I have the same Range Rover as you and I don't have a connection coming off the top hose like that. The only connections coming off are for the alternator cooling and for the gearbox thermostat. I've attached a picture of the top hose.

I would have a look on rave if I was you and double check.

Yep, that's a top hose from a BMW car, FF's don't have that and no water goes to the airbox.... Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks guys. Think I need to dig a bit deeper. I wonder if my gearbox cooler thermostat has been by passed for some reason ? Might explain why gearbox went into cooling strategy after 20 mins in heavy traffic yesterday. Looks like may be the previous owner spent thousands on looks but not the esssentials.

All else is in place as it should be, so it looks like the wrong hose has been fitted for whatever reason. Ill get a proper one on order along with a transmission cooler. Shame I cant do anything about the cone air filter - unless anyone knows better ? No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

Chances are the main engine rad is silted up, not just the oil cooler, fit a new cooler with a blocked rad (which is a very common issue) and you will ruin the new cooler...

Lots of info on all this if you use the search function.... Pete

Noted your coment Haylands and have ordered a rad and an 80deg stat as well. I ran one of these in my X5 and made quite a difference to the smoothness. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue
