After driving for about 40 mins my temperature gauge sits mostly at this mark , anyone else's do this .......

Yeah happens when the A/C is on as i said can drive for about 40 mins and it stays at the point in the picture then for no reason moves to the middle vertical position if i am sitting idling for 5 /10 mins .....

mick, have you checked the coolant levels..seems like theres a strain on the system somewhere. ... - .- -.

A part of my thermostat housing broke off and wedged the thermostat open not long after I bought my car in Jan. That caused the gauge to sit quite low like that. Apparently, it's quite a common thing on BMW's I was told, something to do with there being 3 sensors inside the housing, 2 replaceable and one which isn't, it was the one that's not replaceable which broke off and got wedges meaning a new housing was needed.

It should make no difference if the AC is on at all, when the thermostat is closed there is no water flowing around the radiator to be chilled by the ac fan - that and the fact the fan doesn't come on unless the evaporator temp rises too much... I agree with the general consensus that you need a new stat! |

Hows your antifreeze mix? Maybe a partially blocked radiator from Ice Slush? |
