Yes but only for a period of time and then you've exceeded the amount of cycles that the battery will do and it dies Sad

I wasn't aware that the ffrr had the self charging batteries in the keys, I thought that this was a BMW only innovation.... which is pants on an older car Shocked

Normally if the battery is self charging the key is bonded together, making it a real pita to change the battery... but it can be done Thumbs Up

Quick fix...... Swap Keys with the wife when she's not looking Wink Laughing Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Err No Sad That's the bad news, it's about the only function that the IID tool wont do, T4 Testbook only Evil or Very Mad

BUT Shocked If it's no serviceable parts, then you should be able to replace the battery with another, from the bay of fleas, I know they do them for the rechargeable BMW keys.... the only pita is you have to open the case to gain access to the battery to find out which one it is...... but seeing as your only option is to splash out £235 (and does that include coding, or is that extra Shocked ), and the key don't work.... you can't really brake it any more... however you maybe able to repair it for a few quid, enabling easy access to your car and being able to give the stealer the big finger Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Do the keys charge on all L322 models or just some later ones?

I was surprised by this thread as my 2012 322 key has a battery and so did my 2004 car's key, it would seem odd that keys in between were rechargeable, but I don't know... Only Range Rovers since 1988

Well this really is something that I know nothing about, as far as a ffrr is concerned.... Rolling Eyes

My car is a 2003 and takes normal batteries, and the key can be split in 2 fairly easily to get at the battery... I wasn't aware that the ffrr had rechargeable keys, but they did move the ignition around during production so anything is possible.

But I do have some experience with the BMW rechargeable key, which is bonded together, rather that clipped or screwed.... and it is a bit of a pain, but if you keep at the join with a Stanley eventually it will give up and split in two. At which point you fit another rechargeable lithium battery, temporarily tape it back together for testing, and glue it together assuming that all tested good Thumbs Up I'm sure that someone like Craig will have had one of these keys apart Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
