Deleting the PCV system on a BMW 4.4. IS it possible?

I was just wondering if its possible to just delete the PCV system on the BMW 4.4 since its so troublesome in cold climates. I just bought almost $400 worth of parts and before I install this ( all new pipes, intake pcv , cyclone ect... ) I find this a lot of money for a system that can still give trouble in the cold and will probably all have to be redone in 3-4 years again

I was wondering IF just putting 2 normal PCV valves on each back and venting them like the old engines used to.

Then blocking/ plugging the intake inlets for the PCV.

Its seems quite popular on the diesels for owners to delete the factory PCV system.... this is mainly just for emissions right?

Or how about a older bmw style PCV system that never gave trouble.

Dumb question but just wondering

I'm afraid not. You couldnt block the ports as the pressure build up would burst your seals all over the place!

In reality there is no reason you should have to do this as long as it is kept in good condition in the first place...

Thanks for the reply Dan,

Are you sure it would build up pressure? I would not be plugging the vents where the crankcase pressure gets released, I was just thinking I put a normal PCV valve where the crankcase vents but I plug the pipe where the crankcase vapours get sucked into the intake manifold just so there is no Vacuum issues

Either way, it was just a though to maybe simplify the system

hi, as dan has said, i think there has been many posts on the pcv system, the pipes were not up to the job from the factory and thats why so many have been replaced,i think they have addressed the issue and now are made with a better rubber that will not deterioate and fail.. i am sure it would of been done if it was possible, if kept serviced and inspected it should be fine, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Ok, ok... I will install all the new parts and hopefully not have to mess with the pipes for a good while.

One last question, is there any internal parts on the Cyclone that fail? I was just thinking of cleaning mine since it looks fine VS installing a new one.

Thanks again
