When you start the engine the litre above the filler plug circulates round the system, so it isn't excess fluid it's required. You need to make sure when you refill that you have the engine running and top up to the level of the filler plug, refit the plug before switching off or you'll lose another litre |

RRBlue - That's a job I'm going to be doing soon, did you drive the car first to get the fluid warm before draining it? 2006MY 4.2 SC

Thank you 47p2. That is helpful. When I change it again at 300k, I will just crack open the filler but leave it in until oil has drained from sump plug! When I refilled, I did as you say and filled with engine running, cycling the gears within the temperature range specified in the manual. 2014 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography & 2015 3.0SDV6 HSE Lux Discovery 4 2005 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE & 2011 3.0SDV6 HSE Discovery 4 2002 4.4 Vogue 2000 4.6 Vogue 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE 2009 Freelander 2 TD4.e 2009 1992 Mercedes 300D 1986 Renault 2.1 Turbo D 1976 Morris Marina 1.8 |
