Fuel gauge problem...

I am having problem with my fuel meter on screen. It always shows near half fuel capacity even though it is full. But when it is at 50% capacity it shows empty... I have checked in tank floating meter and they are both up... When I try moving both of them up and down nothing happens. Where to look next? What may be the problem?
