Just read the recall years again. Mine is not included in the recall as it doesn't fall between the 2006 and 2012 range lol. Glad a I re read that before making a call and making a twit of myself lol Laughing

Hi folks, I received the recall notice this week, (2006 4.2 SC).
Is it a problem with the hoses?.

I do wonder why mine hasn't had it done before and why the extremely comprehensive maintenance check at the dealer I bought it from had not shown this up.

Don't assume LR main dealers will have done - as comprehensively as you would hope - pre sales inspections or other health/ maintenance checks. Don't assume they haven't done them but just don't assume they have.

From my own experience, standards and consistency can vary between main dealers. For example, if they tell you it's raining outside. Look out the window and check. Laughing

This narrative is helpful with what's behind the brake hose recall: Thumbs Up

"NHTSA Recall NumberManufacturer recall numberP054Recall Date01/26/2015Recall DescriptionJaguar Land Rover are conducting a safety recall campaign involving certain 2006 to 2012 Model Year Range Rover vehicles built at the Solihull (UK) Assembly Plant between March 14, 2005 to August 14, 2006 to replace the front brake hoses.Safety Risk DescriptionA concern has been identified with brake hoses installed on 2006 Model Year (MY) Range Rover vehicles. Customers may experience a loss of brake fluid as a result of rupturing of one or both of the front brake jump (flexi) hoses. This may result in the loss of the front brake circuit. The vehicle braking system is a dual circuit system, one system operates the front braking circuit and the other system operates the rear braking circuit.Repair DescriptionOwners will be notified and instructed to take their vehicle to a Land Rover dealer who will replace both Left Hand and Right Hand front brake hoses. There will be no charge to owners for this repair.StatusRecall outstanding. Remedy not yet available... "

Thank you - that makes it a little clearer, I suppose.
It has, coincidentally, felt a little less responsive on the braking front - I was considering changing the fluid. Very Happy

Mine went in on Friday, unfortunately they damaged the 'hard' brake lines joining the flexis, so getting these renewed free too as 'consequential damage'. Hopefully getting it back tommorrow. 2006 MY FFRR 4.2 S/C autobiography (Auckland Blue - 901)

I would have thought so Stu, they refused to do mine unless I accepted the potential £600 bill if my brake lines broke in the process due to being corroded.

I took the car back and it's on my to-do list before it goes back. The local specialist have quoted £200 to renew the lines then I'll get it rebooked with landrover.

Surely if JLR have issued this recall, on such a wide spread of cars, they have to expect a few issues! Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE
