IIdtool and Android woes

Has anybody had any difficulty using their IIdtool with an android phone.?

The reason I ask is Ive used mine on 3 seperate Galaxy S4 phones and found the app to be horrendously glitchy and prone to crashing, to the point where the task becomes pretty much impossible. To cut a long story short, I had a height sensor break an arm and send the whole car into a lop sided tizz. I repaired the height sensor and tried to re-calibrate the height using my Galaxy S4. It coughed and farted and crashed constantly and in the end I had to give up. It told me my "blutooth stack has crashed" whatever the dickens that means.? I then tried it on 2 other Galaxy S4 phones with the same result. I drove around like this for sometime until I managed to borrow my sisters iphone 6. Well my goodness what a breath of fresh air. Everything ran smoothly and worked first time. It was a joy to use.

So my question is this. Is the android app at fault here or is it just the Galaxy S4. I must also point out all were running the latest version of the app.

I was really disappointed in my IIdtool until now. I thought it was just some gimmicky hit and miss, over rated, limp dick of a thing but my iphone experience has changed my opinion entirely. 2002 TD6 Epsom Green

Hi

Android is a little more picky than Apple when it comes to connectivity. I will not go into the details but we have made some improvements and are still working on it. I am using an S4 on a daily basis and it's pretty good, not like an Apple device but nowhere near the issues you had. Which OS version are you running on the S4?

I could not find any information in our system regarding your current tool version. If it wasn't updated yet, I suggest doing so since it will help with this type of issue.

Feel free to send me a PM or mail if I can be of further assistance.

When I first used my new Gap tool I seem to remember having the same problem with an S4. I contacted Gap, who seemed to think at that time the tool didn't like the Land rover hands free being paired on the same phone as the tool. I removed the Land rover hands free and the tool worked fine. Shortly after this Gap contacted me suggesting I update my tool as they had sorted the glitch involving having the 2 Bluetooth devices on the same phone. After the update the S4 worked fine!
I now use a Samsung S6 which also works fine with the IIDtool. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Mike.

Android version 5.0.1 lollipop

Thanks for the replies. Yes I must update the tool to be fair. Its just something I havent got round to doing yet.

Interesting what you say mcj0rdan about the hands free interferring with things. I have an android headunit with blurooth handsfree and it was something I thought about when I got the blutooth stack has crashed message.

I will try out both suggestions when I get a chance and teport back. Thanks again chaps. 2002 TD6 Epsom Green

Joey, have you tried the IID tool with that Dynavin head unit your running to see if it works, apparently it won't with most of them as the bluetooth won't be V4...??

Cheers Pete

Ive got an erisin unit in mine, followed your guide to installing it so thank you for that. To be honest its not something I ever thought of doing but now that you mention it, it would be interesting to try. It would be very handy if it worked. 2002 TD6 Epsom Green

Oh right, mine runs 4.2.2. so it's not up to it, irrespective if whether the BT unit is up to it... if yours is on 4.4.4 then it's worth a try... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

Just to conclude this in case it turns up in someone elses search one day, I updated to the latest firmware from GAP and all is well. Works very smoothly now. No hangups or glitches.

Sorry for the delay, technology gives me a pain in my hole. I seem to spend my life being told "you must update to latest version to continue" 2002 TD6 Epsom Green

Rolling Eyes I had that problem too, the BT wouldn't play ball at first, and it was beginning to look like a typical ffrr Big Cry job.... then I downloaded the update from GAP and it all started to work instantly, and without complications Bow down

So if you've a BT IID tool and it's not talking to your phone... make sure you've installed the updates from GAP before you get to Banging Head Banging Head Big Cry Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
