Oil Change

Hello All,
Trust well.

Have a very important topic to mention. Can anyone attach a photo of the front underneath of a 2004 Vogue? Mine starts with the ribbed boarding followed by a metal plate with 13mm nuts on underneath the engine.

Not sure whether this plate needs to come off to get at the sump plug as the bolts seem well torqued up.

Thanks for your help.

By the way, spoke to my friend who works for Castrol. He said the best oil they do is the Edge 0-30W but they quote the 5 - 40W for the year model etc..

Thanks for your time.

If the plate you are mentioning is to the left of the engine, looking forward, with 4 x 13mm bolts, then it doesn't need to come off. The drain plug is on the right rear of the sump pan on the TD6. Can be removed without taking off plates.

Unless you have some other plates underneath? Very Happy

Yep, on a TD6 of that age there should be no need to remove anything to get at the sump plug. 17mm IIRC.

You will need a big socket (34 or 36 mm I forget...) to undo the oil filter cover up top. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

36mm for the oil filter cap. Thumbs Up

Also, best to use a socket as the cap is plastic and can be easily chewed up if trying to use anything else. John

That's great, thanks.

All done now. Took two runs round the block to get the oil on the top mark of the dipstick.

Have to say can't notice any difference to the sound and running of the engine yet.

Also, doesn't it get dark now in the evenings, I was getting the candles out at 7.45pm!!! Plus, so warm as well, it's like the south of France over here at the moment.

All the best and thank you for the replies.
