Gearbox slip

Hi,
I’ve got a 2010 5.0L SC L322 with 43K on the clock. Recently on a long trip to the south of France with a fully loaded car the gearbox started to have a slight slip between 1500 and 2000 after 4-5 hours of driving, the second the RPM builds to over 2000 or it kicks down for a lower gear the problem goes away, this could happen at any speed between 1500 and 2000 RPM.
Has anyone had a similar problem? The gearbox oil is supposed to be good for 10 years. After a short stop at one point, less than 10 minutes of engine off, the problem went away, if it was heat or pressure related I would have still expected the same issue after that amount of time.
The car is going in for a service in a few weeks so I’ll ask them to check for fault codes but nothing comes up on the dash.
Thanks,

Have you had it from new...?? If not has it got a towbar..??? run it hard with a big weight on the back and you will very quickly wear out the oil prematurely, if it was mine I would get the oil changed straight away, oil is cheap, a gearbox isn't... I'd also get the codes read to see if it is flagging up something...

Good luck... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi,

Only had the car 3 months and 3K, no tow bar fitted.

Car booked for a service in 3 weeks, won't be doing hardly any miles before then so I'll get the gearbox oil changed at the same time along with any codes checked, is there also a filter that needs changing?

Thanks,

There will be a filter or screen in the bottom of the gearbox sump... many an argument on here whether it should be changed or not... personally I can't see the point of not changing it... Thumbs Up

Good luck, hope it sorts it for you... Pete
