Not aware of any difference. Use French diesel (no surprise ) and don't smoke. Neither me nor the FF. John

I have done a lot of touring in France over the years in a 2.5TD P38 and a td6 3L , both BMW Diesel engines and always found that cheap supermarket diesel in France caused a very significant increase in "diesel knock" and as soon as I refilled with Shell or BP the engine returned to their normal noise level.

Similar story, different question. 2009 tdv8, just returned from France where I also had to have two new turbo hoses fitted. Solved the problem and normal power returned.

found out today that the smoke problem is a cracked manifold on the near side, I had the offside one replaced in December last year, so another £1400 has to be spent |
