Someone in France hit my parker RR

Well my mint RR is no longer mint. On holiday in France and parked it up in a bay off the side of a quiet road, came back an hour later and some b Censored d kindly re arranged the bodywork and drove off Big Cry

Anyone had similar damage, is it expensive to repair? I assume the rear panel is somehow replaceable right? Going through insurer but don't want inflated costs risking their decision on it.

Will have to use the motorbike when I get home saves a hire car cost

Yes the panel is available but wont be fun to replace as a good bit of labour stripping the interior on that side for the spot welds.

Id see how much a local paint shop would quote to do it by pull out as best as possible with some heat and pull out pins.

Door might be lucky mind as they flex a bit on the edges.

I estimate a replacement panel will make it about £3k maybe and a pull out maybe about £1k... lot of labour Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

ARRRGhhh bloody Frenchs... (ahem) typical!

I woudl think it will be pulled out (weld pins that are then pulled outward with a special 'hammer' then smoothed and painted, rather than replaced.

Rear panel is replaceable but it's a huge job. Mine rusted a touch and the options for me were to strip and replace or make good. The body shop advice was to make good as a panel renewal it's a real headache even for the pro's....sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Any CCTV locally ? Possible a van, the french are not so clever with delivery vans on narrow streets Rolling Eyes Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Ouch

I'd be enquiring at whatever is opposite where it was parked - it does look like a high bumper or trailer reversed into it rather than a passing vehicle....

That'll pull out no problem. I've had worse done with pull pins and they do make a very good job of it TBH. I definitely wouldn't want to replace the whole panel for that amount of damage. Bear in mind what's behind it (lots of leccy bits) and it makes it a massive job.

Nice of the perpetrator to leave a note though Rolling Eyes

Repair it rather than replace. Be worth getting some quotes first before going through insurance.

Absolute Bar Censored stewards. So sorry you've had some bad news. To hit so high without causing damage to the wheel I'd guess you are looking for builders type truck or similar. Just make sure you ask around because you never know......it happened to the wife once and we eventually found out it was someone living a lot nearer to us than we'd have liked. Big Cry

Yes, I think it would be an expensive repair. Crying or Very sad

At the very least, your reprinting the fender and door. Painting is always expensive. And you need them repaired first. I can't really make an educated choice between repair/replace. I'm just thinking aluminium is a lot harder to work than steel, so a new panel with all the correct tolerances may be preferable to someone trying to hammer the old one back into shape.

Very annoying, though. Censored Censored I hope you can still enjoy the holiday.

Had similar in France a few years ago they just don't view vehicles in the same way doesn't help your pain though get it repaired rather than replaced they will do a good job but make sure you choose where it gets done not the insurance company - they will use the cheapest and the paint won't be good so do some research and find a really good body work shop to do the work
Good luck

That panel is steel, as we know from all the stories of rusting arches. A good panel man will get that back into shape without too much difficulty. Since it's on edges and corners it will stay in shape once repaired as well. Dents in the middle of panels are harder as they easily distort again with heat cycles (sunshine, then cold etc)

I know it's not nice for the OP but it really isn't so bad to repair. Yes there will be paint but again it can be blended into the adjacent panels nicely and won't need a full side of the car re-spray. From past experience I would expect that to cost 600 to 800 quid in a decent place. Not exactly cheap but not mind-blowing either.

Happened to me, a few months back.
Insurance companies asseors said £6K to repair and would offer me about £4750. I said no and found a local indy who did it for about £3500. The panel costs about 1200 but the place I used chopped out enough to do a patch rather than the whole wing panel.
