Venture Cam Holster / Dock repairing latch mechanism

I've seen plenty of RR with the venture cam hanging out in the dock/holster.. Mine included 🙄
It appears to be a common issue, does anyone. Have experience of repairing the latching mechanism ?
I'm going to try and remove it to work out what's happening to mine

A quickly slung together how to guide for repairing the Venture Cam Dock latch mechanism.
Difficulty 1/5

First is to get at the enclosure to remove it from the dash
Pop the side cover off

Remove a few screws on the bottom section of the exposed dash

Remove kick panel scuff guard and footwell trim

Remove screw from here on underside of dash

Remove grommet from inside of dock

Remove another screw

Pull enclosure towards the rear of the car and out, but don't get carried away there are 2 cables to remove

Try not to shake the enclosure too much, the broken tab will hopefully be rattling about, it's very small.
The enclosure handily has no holes for it to fall out of 👍
Find yourself a seat....
Remove the dock from the dash unit, just a few screws required.

Here is where the tab should live....

Here's the tab

A spot of superglue, a steady hand and a pair of long nose pliers and hopefully you'll end up with this...

In true Haynes fashion reassembly is the reverse of disassembly...

Thanks for this, great info.

Not sure it will help me as my cam locks until I go over a bump and then it falls down. But I'll follow your instructions and see what's going on.

Using a cut off beer mat is a lot less hassle! Previous cars:

Dear Stew D
Your write up was invaluable in repairing my venture cam dock. Unfortunately the broken part of my clip was nowhere to be seen so I had to source a new unit. Found one on flea bay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222169957989?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT
The price at £15 seemed too good to be true - given that LR quoted £220+. Unfortunately it was too good to be true and it would not make a wireless connection to my unit. The circuit board appeared identical but had a different model number on it so could have been for a newer model.
However it worked out fine for me as I just swapped my old circuit board in to the brand new housing complete with intact clip and hey presto - all good. At £15 cannot complain.

Must admit I don't use. When I need to admire it, I just pull the dock down and scrabble about in the foot-well to retrieve the beer mat! Smile Previous cars:
