Brake upgrade??

Having owned my 2010 5.0 SC nearing 2 years now, i am on my 2nd set of disks and brakes. That in itself seems strange, but they have for some time now be making the most horrendous squeaking noise with every use.

Is there a disk and pad upgrade for this car? Something more powerful and longer lasting than the OEM items? and where can they be ordered from?

Thanks

Hey Fella -
Are you sure the "horrendous Squeaking Noise" is not coming from the rear shoes - I expect it is.

As many of you will know the rear disc brakes are whats visible - but inside the rear axles are the break shoes themselves - THESE MUST BE TAKEN OFF & CLEANED AT LEAST EVERY SERVICE ( very very easy to do ) - they build up with RUST that pits solid and then makes the so called: horrendous Squeaking Noise.

I would check this one first -

as regards to your question - theirs no comparison to using OE FFRR discs - LR have designed the whole car with top quality parts - after all its their "Flag Ship"

Our 2 FFRR are 12 year builds and are on their 2nd set of front dics - last set mileage was around 43k & 28K - and they were only half worn
I would expect a FFRR 4.4 variant would achieve around 50k before a change was due ( and this is with only a partial lip on the discs - NOT a 20" Grove on Lip ! - as I have seen on some cars ( they say when buying a used car forget about the body look at the discs.

Having said that may be the 4.4 TDV8 has more Torque at braking the the petrol variant - but if you plan the road ahead and look out for any Muppet's on roundabouts you should be OK

As Clarkson once said - "if in doubt ...... pedal to the metal and let no man stand in the way"

Hope this is helpful
