The pics make it look better than it is! I have seen the guys work and watched him do other cars so looking forward to see what he can do.

Mine is in pretty much the same condition but been sat on the drive waiting for repairs over a year. My arches are also rusty and need doing, found rust spots underneath too so that's needs attention before it turns nasty in 10 years or so. I'm looking forward to giving it a good valet and machine polish myself, I used to be a valeter and smart repairer myself in my younger days so it drives me mad to see mine looking so sad. 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography |

I wish I had the confidence to machine polish it but the guy at the paint shop says black is a right pain and even they don't like doing it so I will leave it to a pro and keep on it. Still can't believe the wheel arches for a 2010 car. It's crazy. |

It's not that hard to do, I've been machine polishing my cars for years now and getting cracking results.

I actually really enjoy machine polishing a black car as it's easy to see what's what and the end result is the best of all colours. Granted though if you do a job then you will see swirl marks etc but that's because it's not been finished properly. Also black is the best for stone chip and scratch repair with silver being the worst.

Wow RRUK the look shiny! Once this guy has done it will give it a go afterward but there are a lot of swirls and branch scratches so will lt him get on with it. I will upload some after pics when it is back! |

Once you get it off, spray it very liberally with WD40, these monkeys have a tendency to jam up. Thanks Both. This is a very telling picture I took. My father also has a Santorini black RR, same model year, same age. His has only ever been washed by hand by the local Albanians (apologies for the stereotype), his has actually only covered HALF the road miles of mine, yet mine has been washed by me, in my method, and machine polished by me using over the counter products (Meguiars). Look at the difference in the depth and shine of the paint. Remember - same colour, same day, same driveway, same sunlight. Click to open it full size. See how hazy and swirly his paint is, whereas mine looks like wet black glass. His had just been washed too!

I'm hoping mine comes out like yours as it currently looks like your dads!! Yeah the detachable are a pin for jamming. Thats why it is still there. I forgot to WD40 last time and it needs a little persuasion to come out! |
