Anti roll bar drop links and bushes

3 weeks into ownership of my 07 4.2 SC and things are coming together nicely, had the rear suspension Rose joints changed at local,LR specialist, ( they were advisories on last mot) that has cured the rear end!
Unfortunately I have a knock on front near side that Specialist couldn't find, they test drove it on road and said it drives perfect, it rattles if you go over say hard core or rough ground! Reading up on tinternet it seems possible cause is likely to be Drop Links or ARB bushes?
Now are these DIY do able?. Think Drop Links are so ive ordered a pair, but not sure about ARB bushes on a 4.2 SC?
Anyone knowledgable care to enlighten me???
On a plus note a few cosmetic improvements and cleaning and detailing has seen a big improvement, she looks better now.

Drop links very doable, I did mine with the car on its wheels👍 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Did both drop links with wheels still,on, still got clunk over a rough surface like hardcore but not on road when cornering, etc, think I'm going bite bullet and get ball joints and arms changed at least that way we'll know it isn't them? From what I've read it's impossible to check for play until joints removed, what about MOT shaker lift set up?,

Might show it up if you can find a test station with one, who will let you use it.

The ball joints on the upper arms are available as a separate part but can be a pain to get out, they are cheap though and a garage should be able to do them for you pretty easily, get the genuine items though as they are cheap enough and last longer.

In terms of the other ones in the lower arms you have to do the whole arm, but get OeM from Dan at (duckworthparts) and they are the same but cheaper than LR ones. Make sure the mechanic knows to torque the lower arms on a 4 post lift not a 2 post with the wheels hanging down. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Just check it is not the guards on the disc brakes causing the rattle first Thumbs Up .

Very easy to check the ball joints with a smallish crowbar, just try to move the arm they are attached to and you can easily see any play...

If you can't find anything wrong with the front then check the rear upper and lower hub bushes, when they go they knock and it sounds just like it's coming from the front.... weird....

Don't forget drop links need to be VERY tight and the top has a washer the wrong side of it, i.e. drop link, washer, through the hole, then the nut...

Should be 100 nm or 74 lbf ft.... Thumbs Up Pete

Took it to friendly mot station today and they had it up on ramp, levered ball joints, nothing! So they used the shaker plates still nothing? Then driving out over a track of their sliding doors Clunk! Mechanic then watched as I drove back and forth over it and the front wheel jumps back about 1/2" so it's the rear bush on the control arm that's the chief culprit now.
Trip to the LR specialists and its booked in Thurs for new arm and ball joint, hopefully that will cure it!
Will update after Thurs.

Well had control arm and ball joint replaced and its cured it, hoorah! They said ball joint had some play in, had look at old arm and bush looked fine but they said when it was still attached it was soggy, anyway it's all quiet now, one month in and it's all good, can drive her now happy! Some more cosmetic mods now!,😀

Had the dreaded clunk yesterday. It sounded like it was coming from the nearside front. Got the wheel off and had a good rummage with a pry bar. Nothing conclusive. Put wheel back on (140 Nm) and checked all other wheel nuts were tight. Did an 80 mile round trip with not even a hint of a clunk! What a PITA. Is it worth just going for it and getting all bushes changed? Vehicle has done 61,000 miles now. Previous cars:

I need to do mine! My upper front arm bushes and ball joints are worn, when I brake i can hear the drives side shake Sad I hate cars all I ever had was clunks from both my previous Jaguars! Although excited to drive a RR without the clunk as its been present since purchase!

my car also has a clunk. offside front at low speed when manoeuvring.
I asked the Indy to have a look when they had it for it's MOT
they said it was the RH tie rod.
she is due a service in a couple of weeks and I'm going to ask them to replace both tie rods.

while this is being done - is there anything else associated that should also be swapped out?
