Drop links very doable, I did mine with the car on its wheels👍 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Did both drop links with wheels still,on, still got clunk over a rough surface like hardcore but not on road when cornering, etc, think I'm going bite bullet and get ball joints and arms changed at least that way we'll know it isn't them? From what I've read it's impossible to check for play until joints removed, what about MOT shaker lift set up?, |

Might show it up if you can find a test station with one, who will let you use it.

Just check it is not the guards on the disc brakes causing the rattle first .

Very easy to check the ball joints with a smallish crowbar, just try to move the arm they are attached to and you can easily see any play...

Mine was knocking over rough ground the other week changed both lower arms as it can be easier if you don't fancy playing about with bushes cost £130 a side from a main stealers L322 2008 vogue

Took it to friendly mot station today and they had it up on ramp, levered ball joints, nothing! So they used the shaker plates still nothing? Then driving out over a track of their sliding doors Clunk! Mechanic then watched as I drove back and forth over it and the front wheel jumps back about 1/2" so it's the rear bush on the control arm that's the chief culprit now.

Well had control arm and ball joint replaced and its cured it, hoorah! They said ball joint had some play in, had look at old arm and bush looked fine but they said when it was still attached it was soggy, anyway it's all quiet now, one month in and it's all good, can drive her now happy! Some more cosmetic mods now!,😀 |

Had the dreaded clunk yesterday. It sounded like it was coming from the nearside front. Got the wheel off and had a good rummage with a pry bar. Nothing conclusive. Put wheel back on (140 Nm) and checked all other wheel nuts were tight. Did an 80 mile round trip with not even a hint of a clunk! What a PITA. Is it worth just going for it and getting all bushes changed? Vehicle has done 61,000 miles now. Previous cars:

I need to do mine! My upper front arm bushes and ball joints are worn, when I brake i can hear the drives side shake I hate cars all I ever had was clunks from both my previous Jaguars! Although excited to drive a RR without the clunk as its been present since purchase! |
