Help Please Red light on dasah its all dead

So i set off this morning to exchange the tintent.
Coupled up and drove to dealers 25 mile down motorway
Dropped old caravan off
Pulled out of caravan place noticed red battery light on
Pulled over belt looked ok
started up redlight still on
Proceded down motorway started to get all sorts of messages
ABs, HDC inactive etc
airbag light came on
trans prog failsafe
managed to get off motorway
but no power
brother had to push with engine on up hill @1mph
dash message centre dissappeared
Managed to get onto drive
Turned off and locked up

Having looked at a few threads does this mean my alternator needs replacing
or is there a fuse that may have blown asi i also had the caravan plugged in
without the battery in the caravan ooops
Is there anything i could check battery is now as flat as a pancake
cheers

Sounds like an alternator failure as the battery light is triggered by the car's voltage dropping below the normal engine running charge or a significant drain on electrical system.

If you have a voltage meter, jump start the car and place the voltage meter on the battery, should indicate 14v or more to signify a healthy alternator. Once the car is off, keep the volt meter on the battery. It should maintain 12v if this drops quickly, your battery has had it. '55 Java Black Vogue

its bad to leave the caravan leads loose as they will be live direct from the car via a fuse as soon as the car is switched on. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Update

Thanks for the replies

As i was away with work, my local indie had the job of recovering the RR off the drive and to their workshop.
Armed with a fully charged battery, managed to get to their premises and do some tests.
Turned out to be the Alternator, only putting out 8 volts
So new alternator with 12 moths gtee
Also got them to put a new expansion tank on, (as i was sick of seeing the 'Check Coolant level' on display).
Coolant flush and new Antifreeze
total £369 Thumbs Up

All back to normal again......... Laughing

For now Rolling with laughter

Bloody Hell!
Where did you get an alternator for 300 quid! Ours let go a year or two back and it cost us I think around £800 as its the water cooled BMW one!!

Mine is also the water cooled version.
The mechanic sorted everything out for me, i just left it with them for the week.

Looking at the receipt, the alternator was actually £264.00 nett.

He also showed me my old one and the expansion bottle at the same time as i picked the RR up.
Always looks after me, and i also try and look after him for servicing, mot time etc
But he does like pound notes
