France 2007 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Probably shoudn't write this...

but the thought has crossed my mind that my 07 MY Range Rover had 140000 km / 83000mls on the counter and it is time to see if she can find another custodian.

The last two weeks we drove down to monaco, had a great holiday with days in Italy, 35 ° C, steep little roads, enjoyed wonderfull people, had great food etc. and the car didn't miss a beat, was very economical on LPG and so comfy. My son enjoying his films in the rear, we the airco'd seats in the front and now being back I feel sorry to let her go.

But jeezus 83K mls, nearly 10 years, pfff that's a lot.

Having my vintage and classics to drive and enjoy, my daily car is not that important to me, as long as it does what it should do in all safety. Had 4 range rovers, they all performed great, never any big surprises.
So, dear gentlepeople, should I sell? Find myself a new one, or a newer one? I really dislike the 405, a complete different one, a merc, or back to the Jag?
Any opinion is welcome to make up my mind. My wife doesn't care at all.
Thanks
Robert

here she is

I mean the car

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

Robert, my 5.0 SC is only 6 years old and has done 89900 miles and had 80 when I bought it 2 years ago. Don't worry about mileage too much, a well maintained well sorted FFRR can go for a LONG time.

My Merc 320S has done 280k miles and is still doing really well at 20 years old Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver

I've 120k miles on my 07 plate TDV8, purchased at 70k 4 years ago

Everything works, no major problems during that time and I'm not expecting any.
I changed the diff and auto box fluid at about 90k, so I think I'm probably good to about 150k

I keep thinking about changing for a newer L322 but always end up deciding it'd cost me a lot for little gain

I'd keep it until you find something you really want to buy Thumbs Up 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Thanks guys. 405 probably never, to common, usual, lack of character for me. But please each his own. I always see 150 k kilometers as the absolute max for any car. Next to that they seem to be worth nothing above the 90 k miles. But it is good to see your trust in your Range Rovers. Gives hope Mr. Green

GraemeC,
I'm in the same boat car wise. My 08 plate TDV8 is faultless, now approaching 150,00 miles, yet I find myself continually looking at 4.4tdv8s.

It will cost at least 12,000 to 15,000 to change yet for what. Still can't help wanting one. Thankfully I've not yet found one that suits as I'm not into black cars and it must have ivory with piano black, if I do then I've no idea what.

Congrats with your new 405, I just really don't like the model. Nothing wrong with it (I hope) just not my taste.

For me that many km is nothing, just past run in. But I bought mine with 230,000km.

It sounds like you have the 4.4 petrol which is a very good motor according to other owners on here. So no concerns there.

You have already paid a lot in terms of depreciation. I would hold it longer. The amount you will lose over the next 2-3 years will be less.

However, depreciation cost may not be an issue for you. Also there maybe some tax advantage in upgrading.

Also it sounds like you have a niggling desire for something new. Nothing wrong with a merc. Very nice. ______________________________

Funny, 80K plus is usually where I start looking Embarassed although i am chasing down a sub 40K MX5 for my daughter this weekend. Newest car in terms of mileage I will ever have owned Very Happy .

Just stick with what you have until either the car becomes irritating due to problems or you find something else that you really like. With LPG you have economy and no issues with being excluded from cities due to diesel emissions and it's "the devil you know", unlike another used 322.

When my last 322 was at the height of its 'money pit' phase I spent quite a while looking for something that would be better than a RR. I couldn't find anything. A 322 that is going well is hard to beat, especially if you don't want a 405. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Ireland 2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

Just my pennies worth , I bought a 2007 FFRR with 100k miles on it a year ago. I've done 30k kms since and had minimal issues. My cousin bought a 2011 FFRR (3.6) with 38k miles and within 5k Kms he had new gearbox and front diff , multiple sensors and usual issues. I'm keeping mine and he's just bought a 2013 L405 with the dodgy 3.0 ( joking lads ) engine

It's not mileage , it's how they are looked after Again just my humble opinion 2015 4.4 AB

Well mine has been under waranty until I bought her and came from first owner. I have serviced her as it should, so there is no doubt. She does great, that's not the issue. The question for me is...will she keep on running like she does? Reading your reactions it looks like they do. So should I scratch my itch ......... Embarassed Thanks anyway for your thinking and writing
